Tina Karen is a native of Hong Kong and is regarded as  the territory's foremost classical guitarist. She started lessons with George Sakellariou while she was attending San Domenico School in Marin County, California.
Later, she entered the University of Southern California studying under renowned artist Pepe Romero, Professor James Smith & Tom Gaab.

Tina has performed solo recitals in the United States, Spain, Hong Kong, China, Thailand and Macau. She has  appeared as one of the women artists at the American Guitar Society's 70th Anniversary Series held in Los Angeles. Besides being active in the local music circles as a solo recitalist and  chamber music player, she has appeared at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Gala Concert for the opening of the Hong Kong Cultural Center, and  Concert at the Government House. Radio broadcasts have included  RTHK(Hong Kong) "Artist in Residence" and "Live from Studio One" and KQED ( San Francisco).She has also appeared in  television performances  on Hong Kong TVB and ATV.

She is currently on the faculty of the  Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong  and has taught at  the Idyllwild Arts Summer Program in California, USA. She also  has served as an adjudicator for the 26th Macau Youth Competition(2008).

Recent performances have included solo recitals at the Ventura Guitar Society (Nov 2006) and Long Beach Guitar Society (July 2007).

Tina's playing can be heard on her CD "Songs & Dance Fantasy"(Sony Masterworks 7017.2).
